Accounts & ledgers

An Account is one bank account or card — a checking account, a savings account, a single credit card. Every account you add to finzu gets its own Ledger: the ordered history of every transaction that’s happened on it.

That’s the whole shape of the model. Finzu doesn’t merge accounts together behind the scenes or invent a single “net worth” ledger that hides where each transaction came from. Each account’s ledger stays its own trustworthy record — you get the combined picture (spending, budgets, insights) by looking across accounts, not by blurring them into one.

Why one ledger per account

A bank statement describes one account at a time, balance and all. Keeping that same one-to-one shape inside finzu means every transaction can always be traced back to the real statement it came from, and every balance can be checked against that account’s own history — not a mixture of several.
