Sync across devices

Local-first doesn’t mean single-device. If you want your Ledger on your laptop and your phone, finzu can sync through your own Google Drive — you connect your account, and finzu keeps your database in sync there, the same way any file would be.

That’s a meaningfully different model from most apps’ “cloud sync”: finzu has no server of its own in the loop. The copy in Drive belongs to your Google account, protected by whatever access controls and history Drive already gives you — not a database finzu’s makers could look at even if they wanted to.

Why make sync optional at all

Plenty of people only ever use finzu on one device, and for them a sync layer is pure complexity with no benefit. Keeping it optional — and built on storage you already own — means the local-first promise still holds even for people who turn sync on: your data’s home is still yours, it just also happens to be reachable from more than one device.
