Everything before this page — the reconciled ledger, categories, tags, transfers, budgets, goals — exists to answer the two questions finzu opens with: where’s my money going, and am I saving enough? The dashboard is where those answers actually show up.

A few of the recurring views:

• Spending by category — your categorized transactions, totaled and grouped, so “where’s it going?” has a real breakdown instead of a guess.
• What changed this month — this month’s totals next to last month’s, so a shift in spending is visible instead of buried in a long transaction list.
• Savings rate — income minus expenses (transfers excluded, since moving your own money isn’t income or spending), as a share of what came in.
• Budget and goal progress — how each envelope and each target is tracking against the month or the plan.

Why these numbers, and not others

Every figure on the dashboard is a direct rollup of transactions you’ve already seen reconciled and organized elsewhere in finzu — there’s no separate “analytics” computation with its own assumptions. If a dashboard number looks wrong, the fix is always the same place: the underlying transactions, categories, or reconciliation — not a setting on the dashboard itself. That’s what makes the dashboard worth looking at instead of just decoration on top of the ledger.
