Backups & restore

Because your Ledger lives only on your device, finzu makes taking a copy of it easy and automatic. A Snapshot is a point-in-time copy of your entire database — every account, transaction, category, budget, and goal — that you can restore from if something goes wrong.

Finzu takes snapshots on its own before anything risky: before a schema update, before a restore, before a bulk sync — so there’s always a known-good copy to fall back to if the risky thing goes sideways. You can also take one manually any time, and export it to a folder on your own device or drive as an extra copy outside the app.

Why this matters more here than in a cloud app

A cloud app’s server is usually backed up by someone else, whether you think about it or not. Local-first moves that job to you — so finzu builds the safety net in rather than leaving “did I back this up?” as a question you have to remember to ask yourself.

Next: keeping your ledger the same across more than one device.
